Kwara state scholarship board was established during the regime of Governor Adamu Attah on 3rd November, 1982. The establishment of the board was primarily to serve as the outfit for students’ financial assistance to students who are genuine Kwara state indigenes. “Implementing Government policy on state scholarship and bursary as may be laid down from time to time” (Establishment law 1982).
The board is headed by executive secretary who must be a very senior Education officer to direct the statutory functions of the establishment. The executive secretary is the signatory and chief accounting officer of the board.
A chairman and six board members are appointed on part time basis to deliberate on policy and other related matters.
